If there is any phenomenon that is permanent, it is change. Constantly changes are taking place in and around us. The changes are seen as good or bad, positive or negative depending on each one’s perception. As we go ahead with changes we also think of the past and say there was a golden age in the past and try to bring back the practices of that past. The truth is that people of that golden age also imagined of a golden age in their past. If there was a golden age at any time in history there would not have been any change in the world.
People of different class and communities look at the society from their own level and judge the changes. Some call it a developed society pointing to the glittering malls, wide highways and mass production. But for the hungry and rural population development is a dream. Some call it a civilized society pointing to the modern dress and life style of the urban dwellers. But the oppressed experience barbarism and absence of rule of law. Some pointing to the religious symbols erected everywhere say the religiosity of the society is very high. But they fail to understand that religiosity has nothing to do with God and spirituality. A high spirituality is exhibited by ones adherence to truth, justice, kindness, patience, honesty and generosity.
Creation of a spiritual, civilized and developed society is the dream that need to be realized through educational institutions.
